Life Coaching vs Therapy

  • Psychotherapy is a way to help individuals with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.

  • Coaching does not provide any psychoeducational evaluations or diagnoses.

  • Coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals to a specific identified task; psychotherapy focuses on mental health and emotional healing.

  • Coaching deals with the “here and now” – the present; therapy tends to deal with past pain or trauma, medical illness or grief that may be impacting your daily functioning.

  •  Coaching is for when you feel stuck and want to challenge yourself or step out of your comfort zone.

  • Coaching is for when you want to stop unhealthy habits and replace them with healthier choices.

  • Coaching is for when you’re deliberating the next chapter of your life’s journey and would like guidance in identifying what is best for you.

  • Coaching is for those times when you acknowledge you have a lot to be grateful for but something is missing.

  • Coaching or therapy can be accessed when you need help putting the puzzle of your life together.
