November Mindful Moments Challenge

Life Options is honored to be a part of the NDC Healthy Minds/Healthy Body month for the second year. Each day you will find a Mindful Thought of the Day to reflect on with your students or as a family. Enjoy a few minutes each day reflecting and showing gratitude, while taking time to Be Still for a moment. A different Mindful Thought will be posted each day for your reflection.

So what is MINDFUlNESS: Mindfulness is noticing your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations in the present moment without any judgement. Mindfulness helps you be in the here and now with less worrying and thinking about the past or what could happen in the future. You can use mindfulness strategies when you are feeling anxious, moody, angry or just need to relax a bit. Mindfulness helps you to cope with the everyday stressors like: School pressures, problems with friends/peers, difficulty paying attention and focusing, feeling overwhelmed and just worrying about things or situations.

Mindful Activity Day 1: Mindful Breathing

Start by breathing in slowly through your nose and out through your mouth. Try to pay attention to the air moving into your nostrils and feel the air passing out through your lips. Try to follow several breaths for a minute or two. Try practicing taking 5 easy breaths through out the day. Relax and Be Still.
